-Held a sports and environment education program for the children of Nairobi (Kibera Slum), Kenya-

A project to teach the children of a Kenya slum about hopes and dreams through tennis and an Undokai
GSA was a collaboration between the United Nations Environment Programme and a Kenyan Sports nonprofit called the Sadili Oval Sports Club. This sports training camp that targets children living in Kenya’s slums has been operating since 2001. This time, we were able to donate some tennis goods to the club. Up until now, they had been using a rope in place of a net, but we were able to deliver a simple mobile net. The children were eager to help set up. We were also able to bring some junior rackets. This was a big convenience because up until now, the children had been using adult rackets.
During the sports training camp, a Japanese Day was held. Flags of different nations flew, and a Japanese-style Undokai was held. An Undokai uses competition to teach about winning and losing. Children learn to respect others, to be disciplined, that a team becomes united, and the spirit of fair play, among other lessons. It’s expected that there are educational results as well. It is safe to say this was one of the most popular events in the whole camp. The event was filled with smiling, happy children.
